An effective use of funding to maximise impact

SPIRALPE is an ideal use of the PE and sport premium for primary schools, in fact, we think it should be the first thing you do, as it will help you spot pattrerns and see where interventions will have the most impact on pupils and contribute to whole school improvement

The indicators below are taken directly from the Department for Education guidance document on the PE and Sport premium for primary schools

Schools can use the premium to secure improvements in the following indicators:
HOW DOES SPIRALPE HELP WITH THIS?
the engagement of all pupils in regular physical activity – the Chief Medical Officer guidelines recommend that all children and young people aged 5 to 18 engage in at least 60 minutes of physical activity a day, of which 30 minutes should be in school
SPIRALPE WIN – We have incorporated a physical activity report to track whole school engagement and identify demand

- the profile of PE and sport is raised across the school as a tool for whole-school improvement

SPIRALPE WIN – is highly visible in the school – SPORTSBOARD, Delivery white board and weekly PE reward certificates
- increased confidence, knowledge and skills of all staff in teaching PE and sport
SPIRALPE WIN – increasing teacher confidence in PE delivery (and creating a love of PE) will make a sustainable difference. With SPIRALPE teachers do not lose time planning, so they can focus on outstanding delivery.
- broader experience of a range of sports and activities offered to all pupils
SPIRALPE WIN – looks at transferable skills rather than ‘schemes of work’ this means there is less emphasis on individual sports (so no Tennis block for 6 weeks) allowing a greater range of experiences.
- increased participation in competitive sport
SPIRALPE WIN – CLUBS and FIXTURES is a simple tool which helps to monitor which pupils have taken part in which competitions
